HTC One M9 is confirmed set to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade early in 2016. According to a well-known executive of the company, Marshmallow will come in Canada first as soon as January.
HTC Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi revealed that versions of One M9 in Canada, both retail and under mobile carriers, will kick off the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. In his tweet dated December 11, 2015, Versi responded to a query from a user who asked about the software version that One M9 will be receiving next.
In Versi's exact words, he said: "@maxime_landry Hi Maxime, it's 6.0 version for M9. For M9 in Canada, that will be early next year. Thanks (sic)."
This prompted speculations that it would not take too long for One M9 versions in the United States, both retail and under mobile carriers, to receive the same update.
According to Phone Arena, the Marshmallow launcher will bring in the expanded emoji and a solution to the out of sync system clock which cannot be found on the device after the update. It furthered that the date the update will most likely arrive to the device will be on January 21st.
Per analysis of its report, the site noted that back in October, Canada-based telecom company, Telus, moved its release schedule of Marshmallow to One M9 on the 21st of January which will also be likely for other carriers in the country as well. Telus already confirmed that its versions of One M8 will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the 17th of December.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is slated to come with Doze, a power saving feature that puts the device to sleep when phone is sensed idle or inactive. It will disengage apps from running in the background, and in return expands the standby time of the phone in remarkable amount.
Marshmallow also brings the new Google Now on Tap and a more intuitive app permissions.
