'Doctor Strange' is a new standalone film for the Marvel superhero of the same name. Its first official photograph from behind-the-scenes has been posted as well as the newest concept art showing the iconic costume for Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the Sorcerer Supreme.

According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel Studios' co-president Louis D'Esposito took to twitter on the 14th of December to post the first "official" photograph from the filming set of the newest standalone film for the titular Sorcerer Supreme. The photograph showed D'Esposito with director Scott Derrickson and executive producer Scott Broussard among familiar props and paraphernalia fans could recognize. Two important icons of Doctor Strange mythology seen in the image include the Seal of Vishanti on the door and the amulet called the Eye of Agamotto on the platform.

It was speculated that this particular setting could be Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum in New York, according to io9.com. However, it is also entirely possible that this could be the Ancient One's temple since cast and crew are currently filming in Nepal.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the titular superhero together with Tilda Swinton as his character's mentor the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as his on-screen nemesis Baron Mordo. Producer Kevin Feige expressed his enthusiasm over getting Cumberbatch to play Doctor Strange saying, "Benedict has got an incredibly complicated emotional structure going on." Mads Mikkelsen, Scott Adkins and Rachel McAdams are also joining the cast in yet unknown roles.

A new featurette revealed concept art for the upcoming film despite keeping plot points and further character details in tight wraps. According to Moviepilot, the concept art showed Doctor Strange in his iconic red cape set against a surrealist swirl of psychedelic colors. The character looked to be garbed in his original costume consisting of a long blue tunic and the high-necked cape, complete with his trademark facial hair.

'Doctor Strange' is an upcoming standalone superhero film based on the Marvel character of the same name scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016. It is intended as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three. It is directed by Scott Derrickson based on a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Joshua Oppenheimer, Thomas Dean Donnelly and C. Robert Cargill.
