'John Wick 2' is an upcoming sequel to 2014's blockbuster hit of the same name. Leading man Keanu Reeves reunited with 'The Matrix' co-star Laurence Fishburne as the two have been spotted filming in Brooklyn. No other details of Fishburne's role have been released although it was speculated that he was merely doing a cameo.
According to the Gothamist, the sequel to the 2014 action-thriller hit may feature a small 'The Matrix' reunion as Laurence Fishburne joins leading man Keanu Reeves on the filming set in New York. A series of behind-the-scenes photographs showed Reeves dressed in his titular assassin's trademark suit and tie together with Fishburne who looked to be a "pigeon racer" in a black pullover and matching trousers. Not much is known about Fishburne's actual role in the film.
An article by the Daily Mail also published more photographs from the filming set in Brooklyn where the two actors shared some off-screen jokes and downtime. Reeves and Fishburne previously worked together in the iconic neo-noir science-fiction trilogy released last 1999 as Neo and Morpheus respectively. Directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch worked as stunt doubles on 'The Matrix' as well.
Another article by Screen Crush pointed out that Fishburne's name has not been listed on IMDB as of the present and that it is entirely possible that his appearance may just be a special cameo. There is also a chance that the 54-year old actor may play John Wick's mentor to help him against the new antagonist portrayed by Common.
