Employees of Verizon started receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on their Motorola Droid Turbo 2 phones. Android M also recently arrived on Moto X Style devices in the UK region, bringing some changes in Motorola's features.
The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition began receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Verizon staff owning the Droid Turbo 2 can now exclusively download and preview the Marshmallow firmware version 24.11.13, reported Droid Life. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition has an installation time of 35 minutes.
Before the Droid Turbo 2, another Motorola phone started to get Android M. An earlier report by Venture Capital Post stated that Android M rolled out to Moto X Style devices a few weeks ago. The Android Marshmallow update for Moto X Style users has begun in Europe. It will launch in phases which is typical for a software rollout.
The report further said that Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings a few changes to Motorola's features. In the new Google OS, Motorola Assist and Motorola Migrate were removed. It was reported that these features will be replaced by new ones integrated in Android Marshmallow. An example is the 'Do Not Disturb' feature that will replace Moto Assist.
Aside from these, a report courtesy of Tech Times said that Android M will be bringing a new battery-saving feature called Doze. It was stated that this is one of the most underrated, but helpful, features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Doze helps extend the phone's battery lifespan by optimizing power usage.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow also allows users to share files directly with others and make contextual searches with Google Now on Tap. There will also be native fingerprint scanner support and Android Pay in the new Google OS.
At present, it is not yet known when non-Verizon staff Motorola Droid Turbo 2 owners will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It is believed that the update will come to regular Droid Turbo 2 smartphones before the year ends.
