New Google Now on Tap feature takes and organizes screenshots to reduce image clutter on Marshmallow devices

Google Now on Tap got a new feature that takes quick screenshots and organizes them to reduce camera roll clutter. The new screenshot feature is available in the latest Now on Tap update for devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Android users can now take screenshots of their phones much easier, thanks to a new Google Now on Tap feature. Droid Life reported that the latest version of Now on Tap (v5.7.13.19) adds a quick screenshot option to the app. The new feature can be accessed via a share button at the bottom-left corner upon opening Now on Tap.

With the new feature, users can more conveniently share screengrabs of their devices to friends or on social networks. Previously, taking screenshots on Android devices involves more work. The only way to do it is to simultaneously hold down both the power and volume down buttons.

Greenbot reported that the new Now on Tap feature also organizes the screenshots taken by the user. The images can be sent directly to a Google Drive folder or on cloud storage. This helps reduce clutter on devices' camera rolls and free up more space.

The report added that this new screenshot feature can be helpful to Nexus 6P users. It was stated that the official Nexus 6P case makes it difficult to perform the screenshot key shortcuts (power plus volume down). The new feature can save users from the frustration of having to hold down two buttons to generate screengrabs.

Now on Tap's screenshot feature is available in the latest version of the app. It is limited to devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Hence, Android devices that have not yet been updated to Marshmallow will not be able to get the feature.

Venture Capital Post previously reported that more devices are getting Android Marshmallow. The Moto X Style and Motorola Droid Turbo 2 have started receiving the update. More devices are expected to be updated to Marshmallow as it rolls out by phases.

The latest version of Android Marshmallow is 6.0.1 at present. It brings bug fixes and December's security patches to Marshmallow devices.
