The LG G3 has been confirmed to be one of the handsets that are eligible with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade. Now, the South Korean tech company is expected to roll out the Marshmallow update to this device really soon.
According to Tech Times, it was in November that rumors surfaced about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow coming to the LG G3 sometime between December 16 and 18 in Poland. But the South Korean based-smartphone manufacturer hasn't confirmed anything yet so many were advised to take the news with a grain of salt.
As of the moment, recent reports show that the 2014 handset is definitely going to receive the much anticipated Android update. According to the site, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS is going to be released to the LG D855, which is the international variant of the LG G3. This basically means that this variant will likely get the new Android version first.
On the other hand, the arrival of the Marshmallow update to other LG G3 variants could be delayed depending on their carrier and region, wherein the LG D850 is for AT&T, LG D851 for T-Mobile and LG D852 for Canada.
Furthermore Android Geeks added that an open source code was made available for download, indicating that the official update shouldn't be too far away. If users own the D855 model of the LG G3, then the update will be available first for these models, while the remaining ones should expect the Android 6.0 roll out some time in 2016.
Aside from the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update it is also worth mentioning the features and specs of the LG G3. International Business Times reported that the 2014 flagship of LG Electronics sports a 5.5-inch display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It is engineered with a 2.5GHz quad-core CPU within a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC.
As for the camera the LG G3 is armed with a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 2.1-megapixel front snapper. This handset is packed with either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM coupled with either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage. It is armored with a microSD card slot for expansion of internal storage up to 128GB and is powered by a 3,000 mAh Lithium-Ion battery which is claimed to offer talktime of up to 21 hours on 3G. Its connectivity options include LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and microUSB connectivity. Lastly, it runs on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) OS which is upgradeable to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).
LG might still not have given out a firm release date yet, but with this evidence, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to arrive on the LG G3 in due time.
