Previous reports had it that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is expected to land several Samsung handsets this month. But fresh details suggest that Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, S6 Edge, S6, Note 4, and Note Edge are now expected to obtain the update in quarter one of 2016.
According to Yibada, fresh details about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphones have surfaced. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is supposed to to receive the Android 6.0 upgrade in this month while other Samsung flagships like Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 are slated to get the upgrade in January 2016. However, new information from a Vietnamese source indicates that the update for most Samsung flagships have been moved to first quarter of 2016.
The Samsung Galaxy Note series handsets like Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos and Galaxy Note Edge are now speculated to receive the latest Android build in Q1 2016. The Galaxy series handsets like Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 LTE-A and Galaxy S5 Neo are also slated to receive Android 6.0 in Q1 2016.
Apart from the aforementioned handsets there are devices that are still waiting for approval to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. These include the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, Galaxy Tab S2 8, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab A 9.7, Galaxy Tab A 8, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy E7, Galaxy E5, Galaxy J7, Galaxy J5, and Galaxy J2.
Additionally, International Business Times reported that the aforementioned schedules are only estimates and the release schedule can change any time.Once the Android 6.0 release approaches, Samsung may add more devices to the said list.
Meanwhile, since the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update that comes with 200+ new emojis was made available for Nexus devices recently, the Galaxy Note 5 is likely to receive the same build. New information says that the South Korean company is testing Android 6.0.1 update for SM-G920F model, the international variant of Galaxy S6. The update is anticipated to first reach the unlocked Galaxy S6 users in Poland.
This information is not yet confirmed by Samsung and the South Korean smartphone maker is still tight-lipped about the update. But as the speculated schedule nears, more details will hopefully be made available to confirm the timeframe of Android 6.0 Marshmallow roll out.
