US Cellular has now made available the official Android 5.1 Lollipop over-the-air (OTA) update to several of Motorola devices including Moto G (2013), Moto G LTE, Moto G, Moto E and Moto X. The upgrade brings a host of improvements in Material Design, security, and more.
Android 5.1 Lollipop update is coming to US Cellular smartphones of Motorola like Moto G (2013), Moto G LTE, Moto G, Moto E and Moto X. Since the update has begun a few weeks ago already, Google's first maintenance release for the Android software will continue to hit these devices in a few more weeks until completed.
Here's a corresponding mobile number of the devices qualified for the update:
DEVICES | BUILD NUMBER |
Moto G (2013) | LPI23.72-59 |
Moto G LTE | LPB23.13-60 |
Moto G | LPB23.13-33.6 |
Moto E | LPC23.13-34.11 |
Moto X | LPA23.12-21.8 |
The update comes over the air or when device is connected to a Wi-Fi automatic notification message will pop up right on the screen. To proceed with the update, click "Download now."
To manually check for the update, head over to Settings >About phone > System updates >OK. Then follow on screen instructions.
It is crucial to note that both automatic and manual updates need a Wi-Fi connection before being able to proceed with the installation. Make sure the phone's battery still has 50 percent or, if possible, charge up the device while updating to prevent power interruption. The update also needs enough storage space to accommodate the new build.
Android 5.1 Lollipop brings Device Anti-Theft, new screen pinning, Quick Settings and mute mode, among others.
With Device Anti-Theft, lost or stolen device will stay locked unless owner's registered Google account is signed in. The phone will also remain locked even if someone resets the device to factory settings. This feature is integrated with Lollipop's full disk encryption feature.
The revamped screen pinning feature gives users easier instructions when scrolling up to see the Pin icon.
The Quick Settings has been tweaked with minor changes wherein each icon here becomes animated when tapping it. With the new Quick Settings, easier hopping between Wi-Fi access points and Bluetooth devices can be made with the new dropdown arrows.
