Google's newest operating system update, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, has been recently made available for Nexus 6 bringing new features and enhancements to the device.
Slash Gear reported that Google has added the original Nexus 6 to their ever-growing list of updates to Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, the newest version of its mobile operating system. This device joins the Nexus Player, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 9 LTE, and Nexus 9 Wi-fi, as well as a bunch of Android One phones internationally which were already confirmed earlier to get the same update. The Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X are also on this list.
Gotta Be Mobile stated on its article that the though Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is not a very big update, there are still a few new features, small changes, and bug fixes constituted. However, for the most part it is just a small bug-fixing maintenance update for Marshmallow. The full change logs include new emojis, quick launch camera, do not disturb and volume controls, tablet user interface, Failed MMS (Picture Message) Bug, Lag in Copy & Paste Selection and lastly, security patches
The owners of a Nexus 6 can install Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow by heading to the device's settings > about phone, where they will check for the update, then manually download and install it.
Meanwhile, as a refresher, Blorge noted that the Nexus 6 is armed with a 5.96-inch AMOLED screen that has a QHD resolution (493ppi). The device has a polycarbonate back which is slightly curved on the edges, so it feels very comfortable to hold in one hand. The body of the Nexus 6 is water resistant and has a metallic frame, but it's kind of thick at 10.1mm.
Inside its chassis, Nexus 6 is engineered with a 32 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad core processor which runs at 2.7GHz and coupled by 3GB of RAM. The primary camera supports 13-megapixel and has features such as OIS, dual-LED flash and autofocus. This gadget is powered by a capacity of 3,220mAh and it offers 24 hours of talk time on 3G.
Since it was confirmed that the Nexus 6 can now obtain the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update, a few of its features are expected to have soe tweaks. As for other smartphones, confirmation from their creators are still underway. Hopefully, the newest patch for Android M will hit more units soon.
