Battery Drain Fixes For Google Nexus 5

By

Two of the main problems for the Nexus 5 have been the camera and battery. For the battery drain, here are some tips to extend the life.

1. Update your Skype application

-For reasons unknown, the Skype and Camera applications have been the leading causes of the fast drainage of battery of the Nexus 5. While using Skype on your phone, the camera is also activated, using up your precious battery. With this, even if you close Skype, the camera is still activated in the background while consuming energy. This was acknowledged and a new update was released for the Skype application to fix this problem.

2. Restart your phone each time you use the Camera application

One solution to the battery problem the Nexus 5 currently has is to restart the Nexus 5 each time the Camera application is opened, or each time a camera module is used like Instagram or Skype. Restarting your phone refreshes your background processes and RAM to default - making it a very effective way to save battery.

3. Accessorize or modify your phone

There are many accessories that can give more juice to your phone like Power Banks as well as extended battery cases. There are more than enough on the market that you can choose from. You can also try replacing the battery completely.

4. Enable Android Runtime

This will change the way your Nexus 5 creates and runs codes. Although you will lose a bit of storage compared to when it is disabled (applications will take up around 10% more space), your applications will use less processor power and open faster. Because this isn't officially sanctioned by Google, you have to enable Developer Features. Go to Settings > About Phone > Tap Build Number 8 times >then a Developer's Option will appear as a new sub-menu in the system. Proceed to select the ART runtime instead of the pre-set Dalvik Runtime
