iPhone 6 Release Update: 2 models to be released in September; focus on health apps with unbreakable Sapphire screen [Video]

The iPhone 6 - the most anticipated smart phone by Apple ever - is expected to be released very soon, having features like an almost-unbreakable Sapphire screen and fitness-centered apps. Here's what we know so far.

Experts say that the company will be releasing two models of different sizes this year: a 4.7-inch phone and a 5.5-inch phone/tablet, which has been dubbed as the "iPhone Air phablet." The 4.7-inch phone will likely have 32GB and 64 GB models (the company may not produce 16GB models, reported Macworld), and the phablet could have a 128GB variant.

"'Large-screen envy' is prevalent among the iPhone installed base and we believe a 5in form-factor iPhone would spark a massive upgrade cycle as well as many 'Android switchers' returning back to the iPhone," said research firm ISI.

The iPhone 6 will reportedly have a Sapphire display which will make it almost unbreakable, but JP morgan Securities reported that Apple could make the limited production, meaning it will only be available to the high-end models.

"Due to various challenges related to the new cover material, we believe the production output for sapphire covers will be low," said JP Morgan analysts in the report.

Experts also predict that the iPhone 6 will focus on a lot of health features. The health and fitness apps have been very successful on the App Store, and the company will reportedly step it up and have "an easy-to-read dashboard of your health and fitness data," perhaps targeting professional sports.

Apple has not given the exact release date yet, but it's likely that the release could be sometime in September (last year's iPhone 5s and 5c were unveiled in September as well). It is also expected that iOs 8 will also be launched.
