"Minecraft" has been swarming with players since its introduction in 2009, but perilously few of those "Minecraft" devotees have been playing it on the Xbox One.
This is something that 4J Studios and Mojang would like to fix. And to do so, they're working on a version of "Minecraft" that would finally be playable on Microsoft's newest console. Work on the port is well underway, but a release date has not been revealed yet.
What has been revealed, however, is that 4J is extremely close to whatever that release date might be. On the studio's Twitter page, a new tweet shares the following info: "We can see the light at the end of the tunnel! #MinecraftXbox1 #MinecraftPS4 #MinecraftPSVita." From this, it's apparent that the port is nearly complete; also, that the Xbox One port will arrive at roughly the same point as the Playstation 4 port and the Playstation Vita port.
"Minecraft" is already available on PC, Mac, Linux, Java, Android, iOS, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, a massive spread of platforms for a single game.
Previously Microsoft offered up other details about the game's release date - "Minecraft" will be releasing on the Xbox One in August, according to Xbox Wire. However, it is not known when in August the game will release.
The Xbox One port, specifically, will be arriving with new features. One of those features will be the option for eight-person multiplayer. This was confirmed by Roger Carptenter, lead producer on the Xbox versions of "Minecraft." Carpenter recently tweeted, "#minecraftxbox1 will be 8 player at release but we will continue working to allow more players in a future update!"
This is a slight step down from the Xbox 360 version, which is able to run ten players at once, but according to Carpenter's tweet, that should be possible at some point in the future.
