As Arrow gears up for its third season this October, spoilers of the hit DC Comics-based series is creating buzz online. The most explosive is Ra's Al Ghul addition to the cast as the main antagonist in the series, Fashion & Style reports.
Ra's Al Ghul, who was the villain in 2005's Batman Begins was played by Liam Neeson, and was hinted to be joining The CW's Arrow. At the San Diego Comic-Con, it was also announced that the character will play as a villain in the hit TV show.
Details of the character sent fans online abuzz in the form of a casting call for the show. The casting description reads,
"RA'S AL GHUL: Male 40's-50's. Open ethnicity. Accent preferred. An iconic villain from the pages of DC Comics. Leader of the League of Assassins. Regal, mysterious, of a bygone era. Proud and unforgiving, Ra's is a ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts, and a shaper of history. He carries the wisdom of the ages, and protects some of its greatest secrets. Think the character of Bane from "The Dark Knight Rises". Someone just terrifying. Not a lunkhead, but a smart and physically imposing man. MAJOR RECURRING GUEST STAR."
As the description suggests, the villain will be more threatening in size and might be a little bit different from the way it was seen in Christopher Nolan's movie.
Season 3 will see a lot of revelations, especially Oliver's character. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim told TVLine, "Half of our job is coming up with ideas, and the other half is exercising judgment in terms of the right time to play those ideas."
"We also need to have that moment happen in the right context. So is it Year 3, is it Year 10...? I don't know. We've put it out there and we've got some cool ideas about where to go with it, should we do it, but we haven't committed to actually doing it or even when to do it," Guggenheim continued.
Arrow Season 3 premieres on The CW on October 8 at 8pm.
