"Castle" will be back on ABC for its seventh season in a month's time. Entitled "Driven," the premiere episode will feature Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) inspecting Rick Castle's (Nathan Fillion) car wreck, IBTimes reports.
As the promo video shows, Becket will investigate "the toughest case" of her life following the disappearance of her fiancé, Castle on the day of their wedding.
The series' new showrunner, David Amann, revealed that Beckett will work hard in finding the truth. "She's [Beckett] committed to getting to the bottom of what happened with Castle. That's really her focus and her mission. She's going to do that, and she's going to take that as far as she can go to get answers. That's what she's focused on," said Amann.
While the new season will pick-up from where the previous season ended, reports suggest that the pilot episode will also involve a significant time leap. Amann described the investigation as "protracted" and revealed that "...there's several months of not having any answers of exactly what happened."
"When we get through episode two, we will resolve some questions of what happened to him, but not all of them," Amann added.
The previous season's last episode showed a mysterious vehicle following Rick as drives to the Hamptons for his wedding. Then it showed a shocked Beckett looking at his groom's burning car. The woman detective then found out that Rick was not in the wreck.
Amann and "Castle" creator, Andrew Marlowe revealed earlier that fans will see a new mythology in the highly anticipated upcoming season. This mythology could possibly involve the disappearance of Rick.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Wisocky ("Devious Maids") signed as a guest star in the upcoming season, TV Guide reports. Wisocky will play Dr. Elena Sarkov, a "lead scientist at a cutting-edge research lab." As the report claims, Beckett and her team will call the scientist after a "mysterious unseen force" kills a pool shark.
"Castle" is scheduled to return on Sept. 29, 2014, with 23 episodes of Season 7.
