The next movie in the "X-Men" series will revolve around the character of En Sabah Nur, Moviepilot said, who is also known as Apocalypse, an ancient mutant whose powers are beyond comprehension.
In the post credits of "X-Men Days of Future Past," a cryptic figure is seen standing at the Great Pyramid of Egypt and promptly assembles the World Wonder through telekinesis. He is backed with four other figures. This scene led to the conclusion that "X-Men" fans can expect the appearance of these enigmatic beings, who are Apocalypse and the Four Horsemen. According to Christian Post, the members of the Four Horseman are be Archangel, Holocaust, Exodus, and Selene.
Although very little is revealed regarding the plot, several reports had based their theories on the 1990 comic book arc "Age of Apocalypse." In the comic book, Apocalypse is said to be born in Egypt, and he was deemed to be the first mutant, which accounts for his unusual gray purple skin. Consequently he was considered a freak, leading to his eventual isolation from humans. A tribe identified as the Sandstormers found him and took him in, eventually blessed him with the name En Sabah Nur or the "The First One."
Entertainment Weekly also quoted director Bryan Singer, who talked about the progression of film franchise. He said, "You won't feel at the end of the movie that it set up Apocalypse. What it does is it sets up possibilities. But what we'll discover in "Apocalypse" is that events in this movie made that happen. Apocalypse deals with ancient mutancy. What would humans have thought mutants were? What would mutants think humans were? You're dealing with gods and things like that. And what if one survived and what if that found its way into our world?"
Meanwhile, there have been rumors as mentioned by KPopstarz that fans had hoped that Nightcrawler will once again join Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, at Professor X's School for Gifted Youngsters. Nightcrawler first appeared in "X2" and was played by "The Good Wife"'s Alan Cumming. Gambit is also expected to make an appearance in the upcoming film as well.
"Apocalypse" is being directed by Bryan Singer, International Business Times and is written by Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
