Derek Jeter Seals win for New York Yankees before Retiring, Shares Loving Moments with Girlfriend Hannah Davis on the Field

It was Derek Jeter's last home game and boy, did he play it well.

The 40-year-old veteran helped seal the win for his team at the Yankee stadium with a score of 6-5. The game is Jeter's last epic run before he retires.

Maybe it is the thrill of closing things with a bang. But for many who have watched the game, they believe it is also the presence of his model-girlfriend Hannah Davis that spurred the athlete to perform so well.

Jeter was supposedly kneeling on his shortstop position, unaware of the presence of his girl, when fellow player Jorge Posada pointed out the 24-year-old's presence. Davis was sitting behind the home plate together with his family as a surprise for him.

Upon seeing them, Jeter ran over to them and held hands with Davis through the netting while some of his teammates offered a few encouraging words to his mother, Hollywoodlife reports. And while the New York Yankees' opponents, the Baltimore Orioles will be the ones heading to the playoffs despite the former's win, Jeter still remained the man of the night as he gave an emotional last bow to his fans (via JustJared). After an adrenaline-pumping game, Jeter reunited with Davis happily by hugging her happily on the field.

This show of love further displayed how serious the athlete is after he almost got into a squabble with Wall Street Journal's baseball writer Daniel Barbarisi. Before the Yankee's final game last Thursday, Barbarisi shared his experience with the football star during 2013's spring training. The writer was supposedly too amused by the fact that he got to share an elevator with Jeter's girlfriend during that time and tweeted "Realizing you're in the elevator w/one of Jeter's famous girlfriends is annual spring training ritual. Today, checked Hannah Davis off the list!"

Jeter certainly did not appreciate the light reference to his string of girlfriends in the past and confronted Barbarisi about it. NESN.com shared that the two went back and forth for a little while before Jeter got to the crux of it.

"I didn't appreciate that. I didn't think it was appropriate." The football star said. Jetter went on asking, "What was she supposed to think when she saw that?"

Oooh, feisty. Barbarisi definitely learned his lesson though. He wrote, "I imagine if we could really see in. What we'd find is pretty much what I glimpsed: yes, he's Derek Jeter, but he still has to worry about what his girlfriend thinks-just like everybody else."
