Venice is just about to host the most glamorous wedding of the year. And no, it doesn't involve a royal or an A-list couple with a merged name. But then again, you don't need to have a "HRH" title or be "Brangelina" if you are George Clooney and poster child for the perfect woman, Amal Alamuddin.
Rialto was abuzz with news last Friday as the two-time Oscar winner and British-Lebanese barrister headed a wave of arrivals of high-caliber celebrity guests for their upcoming wedding on Monday. People.com reports that the power couple kicked off their wedding festivities in Venice on Friday by celebrating their separate his and hers party in the famed Italian city.
For the festivities, the human rights lawyer and former United Nations advisor to the secretary general arrived by water taxi with her posse of 14 women which includes her sister, mother, and close friends. Following afterwards is Clooney's own group who all celebrated a classy dinner at the popular Da Ivo restaurant.
Joining the couple's early celebrations are their equally high-profile guests who started arriving at the floating city the same day. Several big personalities who were already spotted were Matt Damon, Anna Wintour, and Ellen Barkin who were snapped being transported by private water taxis with flags bearing the couples monogram-a classy, personalized design featuring a cursive "A" and a block "G" (via People.com). The Sydney Morning Herald further dishes that the wedding has a stunning guest list of 150 names which includes Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Sandra Bullock.
Additionally, Hollywoodlife spills that the string of celebrations leading to the wedding will include a rehearsal dinner as well as other events that are going to be held at the 79-room Hotel Cipriani. The official ceremony is expected to be held at the 14th-century Ca' Farsetti palace with former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni officiating the nuptial. The reception, on the other hand, will be held at the gorgeous Aman Canal Grande, a seven-star hotel that can only be accessed through boat.
As for the wedding dress, Amal aptly chose a designer to complement her elegant disposition by going for an Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton.
The coming wedding of the pair, who started dating back in 2013, is a big deal after George Clooney vowed to never remarry again after divorcing with ex-wife actress Talia Balsam in 1993. He has certainly found his perfect match in Amal, however, who shares the same passion that he has for human rights causes.
Well, best wishes to the soon to be husband and wife!
