Here's some news that will surprise precisely no one: "The Last of Us," the unbelievable smash hit PS3 game from Naughty Dog, has been given a sequel.
KDrama Stars has the news, citing previous reports from Hypable that may point to the game's confirmation, as well as its potential release date. Their article mentions that before this, a "The Last of Us" sequel was up in the air- Naughty Dog had mentioned it, but nothing concrete.
Here's the quote that confirms the game's development, which they found via the site Hypable.
"When asked if there was going to be further content for the universe Joel and Ellie live in, Creative Director Druckmann said, 'It's possible. We're playing with some ideas, but no direction has been set yet for the next game.'"
"By stating 'for the next game,' Druckmann confirmed The Last of Us 2 is in the planning process."
"Later on, Druckmann tries to cover for himself, answering 'Will you be making another The Last of Us and will it feature Joel and Ellie?' with 'Don't know yet.'"
KDrama Stars also adds a potential plot point for the sequel- that Ellie will have grown up and adjusted to a life without Joel, and a new conflict will stem from there. Presumably, the world will still be overrun by fungus-bearing freaks, because otherwise there might not be much to do.
In other "The Last of Us" news, the original game has just been updated in 3D- Arcade Sushi reports that an amateur Youtuber has remastered a portion of the game in 3D, along with other famous video game settings. The setting from "The Last of Us" that was remastered is the Hidden Pines Corral.
