Will Google debut Nexus 6 in time for Halloween? This has been suggested in several tech articles claiming to have the confirmed date for the release of the highly-anticipated smartphone. The nexus 6, also called "Shamu" or "Free Willy" will also bring to the market the latest mobile operating system of Google, which is the Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android Community reported.
Tech news media has been split with the actual release date of Nexus 6. Know Your Mobile chose to be vague and said that pre-orders will be accepted at the end of October. Ordoh.com, meanwhile is confident that the acceptance of pre-orders will begin via Google Play on October 29, and that fans will have the phone in their hands on November 3.
The buzz about the actual release date of Nexus 6 started when the smartphone has finally made its long-due appearance at the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Slash Gear said that the industry have made it a tradition to observe when Nexus releases its latest gadgets at the federal agency since it has messed up its FCC approval for an earlier product, the Nexus Player. Google had a major hiccup with Nexus Player when it was forced to pull the product out from the market due to its lack of FCC approval, although the company has yet to come on air to confirm such report.
Ordoh.com said that the Nexus 6 will be sold in a SIM-free, 32GB variant at $649. The 64 GB variant will set back customers $699 without the usual contract. Ahead of the pre-order launch on Google Play, Nexus 6 will be made available in the US' biggest mobile carriers like Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and US Cellular. As for British fans, the handset would be sold at £410 without tax and VAT.
