The defending NBA champions San Antonio Spurs will head to Cleveland to take on LeBron James and the Cavaliers for the first time this season on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. The game will tip off at 7:00 pm ET and can be seen on TV via the ESPN network or online through live stream by clicking here.
Both Cleveland and San Antonio are off to a less than ideal start with the star-studded Cavaliers squad still figuring out how to play effectively with each other and the Spurs dealing with some injuries.
At 5-4, the Cavs are still developing chemistry and have been inconsistent in every game they played. They built a nice four game winning streak only to see it snap against the struggling Denver Nuggets who outplayed them at their own home, 106-97.
"I think we were a little bit too comfortable having a four-game winning streak and coming in against a team that hasn't been playing well," James told reporters after the 106-97 loss, per the San Antonio Current. "If today was against the Spurs, I feel like we could be a little more locked in."
The Spurs, meanwhile, are fresh from a 100-75 victory at home against the win-less Philadelphia 76ers. Sharp shooting forward Matt Bonner led all players with 18 points as the Spurs offense clicked on all cylinders with 27 assists on 36 made baskets as reported by M.Solis of the San Antonio Current. The team is putting up at least 25 dimes for the third time this season and James warned if the Cavs aren't ready for the Spurs, trouble awaits.
''If we're not mentally focused, they're going to embarrass us right off the jump, it's just that simple,'' he said, per Yahoo Sports game preview. ''It's the Patriots of the NBA. They come into your building and they want to embarrass you. They're going to execute at a high level and they're not going to beat themselves.''
Cavs forward Shawn Marion did not practice after bruising his left foot in Monday's game. He is listed as probable against the Spurs. Cleveland is the favorite in this matchup, laying -2.5 points here at home. The Total has been posted at Over/Under 203.0 per Pro Cappers.
