The much-awaited collaboration of Big Bang members G-Dragon and Taeyang is finally released.
The recent release of their track "Good Boy" marks YG Entertainment's first hip-hop project recently announced by the record label. Allkpop noted that this collaboration is also the first time the two idols and close friends are promoting a sub-unit, although they have already worked together for Taeyang's "Ringa Linga."
Known as GD x Taeyang, the collaboration unit brought the hip-hop vibe in the electronic dance music track. "Good Boy" features unique vocals from Taeyang as well as G-Dragon's proficiency in rap. The Big Bang members, who are known for their eccentric fashion style, donned different funky attires in the MV, as well as several colorful ones that are undeniably K-pop.
Shorty after its release at midnight on November 21 (KST), the track became a hot topic on the Internet. In fact, the #GOODBOY trended on Twitter worldwide, according to Koreaboo.
Prior to the highly anticipated release, G-Dragon expressed his excitement by tweeting a countdown.
Here is the series of tweets from the idol:
"Hello everyone it's been awhile! I am currently on my way to my hotel in Osaka after finishing a dome tour concert. There's 50 minutes left. Just saying."
"What am I talking about? Taeyang and I will release a single. The music video will be released on midnight and if you're bored, you should wait. 40 minutes left. Just saying."
"The title is 'Good Boy' and you should just listen to it comfortably since it's a happy song. You should listen to it if you're curious. Since it's released at midnight, there's 30 minutes left. Just saying."
GD then started to countdown from 20, 10, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 minute, each tweet ending with "Just saying."
The Big Bang leader is credited for the lyrics and arrangement of "Good Boy," and for co-composing it with Freedo and the Fliptones, as revealed with the previous teaser image.
YG fans are still on the lookout for the record label's upcoming second hip hop project, which is scheduled on December 2.
