Looking for Shiny Pokemon? Find the Ultimate 'Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire' Shiny-Chaining Guide Here!

New "Pokemon" games may constantly be released (the latest is "Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire"), but some things will never change. Like how "Pokemon" players are always questing for the rarest, most ridiculous secret Pokemon.

The latest, in "Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire," is shiny chaining- that is, the idea that if you find the same Pokemon enough times in a row (or "chaining,") you'll be able to catch a shiny Pokemon. And in case you didn't know, Shiny Pokemon are extremely rare variant Pokemon with different colorations.

KpopStarz has uncovered a new way to shiny-chain in the latest generation of Pokemon games. Found on Reddit, there's a detailed guide that, if followed to the letter, might just get you the unbelievably rare Pokemon that you've been dreaming of (or, alternatively, that you had no idea even existed until this very moment).

According to Reddit user 1TripLeeFan, here's what you do:

"First off, in order to start searching for the Pokemon you want to chain, you will have to have caught it at least once. After that you'll be able to tap on its sprite in the DexNav. This is where you can find your search level and actively start searching for the Pokemon. From what I've experienced, the higher your search level, the smaller the chance you'll have at interrupting your chain."

"Your chain will break if you start walking (no longer sneaking) too close to the Pokemon and scare it off or if you run away from battle. So, take it slow! If you're chaining in grass the Pokemon will remain stationary and will take about a minute before it will disappear on its own at least towards the beginning of your chain. If this happens to you, you can quickly run around to reset your DexNav."

"Before you start chaining, if you can find the Pokemon you want to chain in a horde I recommend that you use sweet scent to rapidly increase your search level for that Pokemon. I've had good luck getting it up to at least 50 and start chaining from there."

Gaming Bolt also has a list of where to find Pokemon Hordes"- groups of Pokemon fought at the same time, which tend to help your chains.

"Oddish: 1 Special Attack Effort Value, located in Route 119.

Swablu: 1 Special Defense Effort Value, located in Route 115.

Swablu/Lotad: 1 Special Defense Effort Value. located in Route 114.
