'Assassin's Creed' Prices Slashed During Microsoft's End of the Year Sale

By

As 2014 draws to a close, Microsoft is hacking away at the prices for its "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

The latest deals have been reported by Joystiq - last year's "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" is marked down from $50 to $25 on the Xbox One, while "Assassin's Creed Liberation HD" is marked down from $20 to a mere $5 on the Xbox 360.

It's all a part of Microsoft's "Countdown to 2015" sale, which has been going full force for the past two weeks, offering various deals on various Microsoft games.

These aren't the first "Assassin's Creed" games to be discounted in the sale. Joystiq reports that back when the sale first began, "Assassin's Creed: Unity" and the Season Pass for "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" were both on sale. Now, the sale's moved on to other installments of the popular franchise.

Microsoft's "Countdown to 2015" sale could perhaps be seen as a competitor to Steam's annual holiday sale. Steam's sale, which is normally overflowing with deals (often with a long list of games under ten dollars, and another list under five dollars), is a staple of the holiday season among the gaming industry, and with its success other companies may be following suit.

The "Countdown to 2015" certainly is - Microsoft's official page for the sale has dozens of games at discounted prices, and like the Steam sale, many of them are under five and ten bucks.

In the current deals, "Dead Island: Riptide," episodes of "The Walking Dead" game, "Bully," "Red Dead Redemption," "L.A. Noire" and "Max Payne 3" are all running at a serious discount.

There are only a few days left in 2014, and it seems doubtful the "Countdown to 2015" sale will continue particularly far into 2015, so if you're looking for last minute Xbox deals, now's the time.

Check back soon for the latest news on Microsoft's year-end sales.
