After his murder trial that sent him into prison, it's Oscar Pistorius' relatives who is set to face another court battle brought by Competition Commission to Competition Tribunal. The latter slaps Henrick Pistorius & Co. of an allegation that company is involve with price-fixing in the agriculture industry since 1995.
A company established by South African athlete's grandfather in 1944, Henrick Pistorius & Co offers agricultural lime products. Business Report imparted that Commission's charge against the company, manages now by paralympic champion's uncle Leo Pistorius, is connected to dealing with sellers and suppliers by using Fertiliser Society of South Africa (FSSA). In addition to that, the commission also pointed out that firm is also doing questionable business that includes manufacturing and retailing products.
"The commission duly investigated the complaint and found that in or about January 1995 until May 2008 the respondents agreed on the commission payable by each of the fertiliser companies that employ agents to market, sell and distribute aglime.
"The respondents contravened section 4 (1) (b) (i) of the Act by entering into agreements and/or concerted practice to fix the amounts of the agents' commissions. The respondents used FSSA as a platform for the above conduct," said the commission that wants Henrick Pistorius & Co be penalized by paying amount that's equal to 10 percent of their turnover times the years they allegedly involved in price-fixing.
On the company's side, Time's Lives shared that their legal team denied the charges and told it's connected with a previous client and partner.
"The complaint relates to allegations by a disgruntled customer and previous business partner dating back to 2008 and all (and every) allegations of price fixing is absolutely denied," the newspaper was told by the company's legal representatives.
Meanwhile Carl Pistorius, the sprint runner's brother, is also being summoned by court in South Africa to face "reckless or negligent driving" case this January.
Oscar Pistorius is still fulfilling his 5-year sentence for committing culpable homicide. The case was related to his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, whom he allegedly killed on February 14, 2013.
