Reptile Joins "Mortal Kombat X," Takes Out His Frustrations on Poor Kung Lao's Skull in New Trailer

By

"Mortal Kombat" wouldn't be the same without Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile. Originally, the three characters were just palette-swaps of each other, but since then they've grown into fully-fledged characters, and staples of the ultragory fighting series.

And Reptile has returned for "Mortal Kombat X!" The upcoming tenth main-game "Mortal Kombat" installment has just debuted a new trailer, showing off Reptile in all his sickening, green-skinned glory.

Check it out below. Although be warned- it's extremely graphic. "Mortal Kombat"-level NSFW warnings apply.

The video opens with Reptile and Kung Lao facing off, and Reptile grunting out "I will tear your flesh" in a very Gollum-ish voice, before the fight begins. Reptile's rocking the usual moves we expect from him- claws, tongue, and tons of acid spit. And then, when things get a little dicey for Kung Lao and Reptile gains the upper hand, things get really, really gross.

Reptile snaps off his lower jaw, gouges out his eyes, crushes his skull, melts his face off with acid, and then explodes Kung Lao's head between his hands. Super gross (but that's the "Mortal Kombat" standard, after all). And at least the game's definitely going to be as graphic as the 2011 "Mortal Kombat" reboot.

Reptile's one of many characters already confirmed for the game- we know that Scorpion, Katana, Raiden, Kano and Kung Lao (obviously) will be returning, and that Goro will be a preorder-only bonus character. As well, there are already a few new characters confirmed- Kotal Kahn, Cassie Cage, D’Vorah and Ferra & Torr, two nasty-looking Kombatants who will be treated as a single character in gameplay.

According to Warner Bros, "Mortal Kombat X" will be the "most brutal Kombat experience ever."As well, the game will contain multiple variants of each fighter, each with different playstyles- a series first. "Mortal Kombat X" is set to release on April 14 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and PC.
