IGN managed to get an exclusive interview with "Star Wars Battlefront" Design Director, Niklas Fegraeus on how the upcoming "Star Wars Battlefront 3" that is slated to release this Fall 2015 alongside the new
movie "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens" which will premiere this December 2015.
Fegraeus says that, "The scale of our maps and modes offer a great variety", which will most likely depend on the various locations. For example, the battle that took place on Endor's dense woodlands is very different compared to the snowy plains of Hoth where the Rebel Alliance was up against massive AT-ATs.
Fegraeus continues on to say that, "We have actually made the decision to specifically tailor certain maps to certain game modes and what we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies."
IGN also managed to get a glimpse of amazing concept art from the interview where you can see the Rebel troops going up against AT-ATs in the woodlands.
"Star Wars Battlefront 3" will be using DICE's Frostbite Engine 3 which is also being used by other video game titles such as "Battlefield 4", "Dragon Age: Inquisition", and other upcoming games.
In the trailer for the game that debuted last year on EA's E3 conference, we also get to see the developers using the photogrammetry feature of the Frostbite Engine 3 by going to Lucas Cultural Arts Museum and capturing the exact props and models used in the movies.
So what is photogrammetry exactly? This feature enables developers to get an incredible amount of detail from photographs and then implementing it to the game engine to get amazing graphic fidelity and details.
"We've been showing the game to close partners and one of the things we hear is that it doesn't feel like other shooters and that it's fully born from Star Wars," Fegraeus says.
Fans of the game series are still skeptical of what will become of the upcoming game and whether or not it will live up to its predecessors. But they won't have to wait long since EA and DICE are planning to reveal more about the game this coming Spring 2015.
