Bioware General Manager, Aaryn Flynn spills new information about "Mass Effect 4" on NeoGAF and that it will be open world, larger, and more ambitious than "Dragon Age: Inquisition"

Bioware's General Manager, Aaryn Flynn, took the time to reveal new information on NeoGAF about their upcoming game "Mass Effect 4" and how it is vastly different from previous titles such as "Dragon Age: Inquisition" which uses the same game engine, Frostbite Engine 3.

"We've said the next Mass Effect (and our new IP, but I won't expand on that yet) uses some of the technology from DAI," Flynn explains. He goes on to add that, "We've been enjoying building larger areas that you can explore with less friction, so that'll be there as well."

Flynn also says that the upcoming "Mass Effect" game will take more from its predecessors compared to the "Dragon Age" franchise. "The next Mass Effect will be (and should be) drawing on its own rich and successful past more than what DAI would say it should. Take the Mako, something we've already shown in prototype form. We had that in ME1, and bringing it back is more related to a feeling we can do it much better than we did before and fulfill the original promise of that gameplay," Flynn explains.

Another great revelation is that the development team is also "dropping the older consoles" to further improve gameplay elements and which will be one of the many "goals of the next Mass Effect game than what DAI successfully accomplished".

It was announced last year by Bioware Montreal Studio Director, Yanick Roy, that "Mass Effect 4" was in the middle of the development process and Bioware has gone on to say that the upcoming game of the franchise will be "fresh but familiar" and may or may not have any connection to its previous protagonist, Commander Shepard.

Of course fans of the highly successful series are both excited and apprehensive of the upcoming game since "Mass Effect 3" was disappointing for many hardcore fans because of how it handled the ending among other things as well.
