It's a battle between Marvel superheroes and apparently, Captain America wins clear and simple against galaxy's savior Star-Lord. But unlike epic fights with intergalactic aliens or evil organizations, this one involves a memorable day with cancer patients and $27,000 donations to charity.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" actor Chris Pratt makes do with his wager with "Captain America" star Chris Evans by visiting a nonprofit community for kids as his character Star-Lord after he lost on his Super Bowl bet with Evans, PopSugar.com reports.
Back in January, New England Patriots fan Evans tweeted Seattle Seahawks fan Pratt saying that for the next two weeks, he will consider him as his enemy what with their teams facing each other. As a bet, the two agreed to visit a charity of each other's choosing dressed as their respective characters (via Hollywoodreporter.com). Pratt chose Seattle Children's Hospital while Evans chose Christopher's Haven.
With the Patriots winning the match, Pratt showed up in Christopher's Haven, a community for children and their families who are undergoing cancer treatments in nearby hospital. Evans, despite winning, however, also dropped by the center. According to Comicbookresources.com, the pair announced later that they will both be visiting each other's respective charities regardless of who won.
Even more, the simple Super Bowl bet between the two managed to generate $27,000 in total donations. Seattle Children's Hospital raised almost $15,000 and Christopher's Haven receive around $12,000. The donations started flooding in after Evans and Pratt tweeted the link of both organizations' fundraising pages.
Lisa Brandenburg, president of Seattle's Children's Hospital shared to Hollywoodreporter.com, "We are grateful that real-life superheroes Chris Pratt and Chris Evans are turning their sports rivalry into an opportunity to support kids and communities." Executive Director of Christopher's Haven adds, "The fun and goodwill that they have generated will stay with the children a long time".
Now, whoever said superheroes aren't real?
