Apple's MacBook Air refresh, not the new Apple MacBook Air Retina, is expected on February 24 as part of a low-key event for Steve Jobs' birthday celebration.
According to Cult of Mac, MacBook Air models are geared for a refresh, and the line will be revealed on February 24. The refresh may bring on new chips to current models, upgrading them to Intel's Broadwell chips and new ULV Core i5 and i6 chips. However, not much else can be expected.
With a low-key event scheduled for February 24 in celebration of Steve Jobs' birthday, Realty Today shares that new products may be revealed at the date. "The date has previously been used to introduce new products," mentions the site. The MacBook Pro has been released on February 24, 2011.
However, it is not the highly-anticipated MacBook Air Retina that will come during the date, and instead a refresh of the continued 11-inch and 13-inch models.
In line with the refresh, Apple Insider mentions Apple halting on "restock shipments" and giving the go signal for "resellers to reduce the prices they're charging" for 11-inch and 13-inch models. Moreover, the article also mentions certain resellers updating their price lists to reflect "additional $50-$100 price cuts on top of their usual reductions."
Taking into consideration Apple's schedule, the article details: "Historically, combined price cuts of this magnitude only materialize two times a year: during the holiday shopping season and when something fresher lay just weeks away."
Despite the go-ahead on slashing back on prices, Apple distributors and resellers are also kept in the dark when it comes to new models and what features they include.
Meanwhile, those wanting to get their hands on the new MacBook Air 2015 Retina will have to wait until June, as the new "ultra-sexy" 12-inch model may be unveiled at the WWDC.
Production for the Retina MacBook Air has already begun in January, giving rise to rumors of 12-inch laptops ready in June.
Several new products are expected from Apple as well, including an iPad Pro, iPad Air Plus, and an "oversized tablet." Apple Watch is allegedly set for an April release date.
