"Captain America 3: Civil War" is still due for release next year but the tension between Iron Man and Captain America continues to build up as the release date comes near. Robert Downey Jr. reveals new information on why Tony Stark would turn against Steve Rogers and what unimaginable things he may do in the upcoming film.

WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD

The original Civil War arc in the comic series arises from the tension between Iron Man and Captain America when they choose different stance in the Superhero Registration Act proposed by the government. The said bill will regulate the superheroes and require them to be registered in order to let the government to regulate and oversee their actions.

Iron Man will be in favor of the act while Captain America would go against it since it's against the very basic human liberty. Steve Rogers is a maverick in the comic book and this gives rise to the tension between him and Iron Man including Spider Man.

In the upcoming "Captain America 3: Civil War", Robert Downey Jr. gave credits to Anthony and Joe Russo, the directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Civil War. Downey said that the duo already set up everything since the Winter Soldier. The Iron Man actor also added that "The main thing to me is, and this is where I think the Russos are quite brilliant and where Kevin backed the play, is what sort of incident could occur and what sort of framework could we find Tony in?"

He also added that "The clues are in Ultron about where we might find him next. But what would it take for Tony to completely turn around everything he's stood for, quote-unquote, because he was the right-wing guy who could still do his own thing?"

Iron Man has a broad appeal in the political world and this may help the viewers to understand his position in the upcoming "Captain America 3: Civil War" Movie. Robert Downey Jr. explained that "When the first Iron Man came out, the liberals and conservatives were both like, "You're our guy.' Yes! Score! But the idea of Tony being able to march into Washington and say, 'I'll sign up,' wouldn't have made sense if the political climate in the real world hadn't shifted the way it has. It's a little bit of things following a real world continuum in, 'What would you do?'"

He further explained that if the events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are all true, what would the government do for the collateral damage? And to drive to his point he asked, "What would the American government do if this were real? Wouldn't it be interesting to see Tony doing something you wouldn't imagine?"

In the end, Robert Downey Jr. clarified the upcoming "Captain America 3: Civil War" movie is Steve's story and not Tony's. He said that "Chris [Evans] has been hungry to bring even more of an underside and some shadow to that. I remember the comics - on the surface you got the sense that Cap was baseball and apple pie, but underneath there was all this churning stuff of being a man out of time. Now we know he's made his peace with that. What's the bigger issue? It can have a little something to do with the past, but it can be about someone becoming more modernised in their own conflict."

"Captain America 3: Civil War" will feature a lot of superhero in one of Marvel's biggest superhero clash. The upcoming 'Civil War' will not only be a blood shed but it will have a lot of political impact among the roster of superheroes. Stay tuned for more updates!
