‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ M-rating due to Scarecrow’s maddening tricks? ESRB spots blood and gore all over the game

By

Recent reports revealed the reason behind "Batman: Arkham Knight" getting an M-rating. The game's gory details prompted ESRB to tag the game "mature," which did not bother the developers who stated that they would remain with the game's storyline, M-rating or not.

Going back to an earlier report, Rocksteady founder Sefton Hill said that they would stick with the story they wanted to deliver to the gamers. He added that since this would be the finale for the "Batman Arkham" series, they wanted to deliver a worthwhile ending without making any compromises.

However, it seemed that the genuine ending the "Batman: Arkham Knight" developers wanted for the series made several concerned members of the ESRB uncomfortable as the board gave the game and the series its very first M-rating. The game, based on the board's evaluation, was smeared with blood and profanity. These could be seen almost entirely on the game's storyline, based on a report from Gamespot.

The evaluating board even mentioned some scenes in "Batman: Arkham Knight," which made them decide to put an M-rating on the game. Meanwhile, it was also revealed that even Warner Bros. had some concerns about the project early on; nonetheless, these were ironed out base on Rocksteady as they confirmed that they've already spoke with DC Comics regarding some matters on the storyline that could not be changed as these were "vital" to the project.

Meanwhile, perhaps the reason why there was so much blood and gore in the final installment of the "Batman Arkham" series was due to the main super-villain that would unleash all sorts of fears in the city of Gotham through hallucinogens. The Scarecrow would be Batman's greatest adversary in "Batman: Arkham Knight," based on a report from Gamingbolt.

Rocksteady Studios social marketing manager Gaz Deaves said that gamers would be surprised with what the Scarecrow might unleash on the game. He added that the super villain created "fear and uncertainty" in his enemies, which made him a very interesting character.
