It is no April Fool's joke. 'Empire' has officially surpassed 'The Big Bang Theory' and has taken the top spot of this season's best rated television series. According to a report published by the A.V. Club, Joe Adalian of Vulture posted a Twitter message that showed 'Empire' receiving a 6.9 rating score, which is 0.2 points more than 'The Big Bang Theory's 6.7 in the 18-49 demographic.
In spite of the criticism that the show received regarding the "ethnic casting" controversy, 'Empire' has so far still had a siginificantly positive response from its viewers. This, along with the ever growing fanbase of 'Empire' has proven just how people have become charmed by the superb performances given by the show's cast.
In the meantime, MStars News has reported that several spoilers for the upcoming second season of 'Empire' have been recently released, one of which may finally answer the question that fans had in their minds since the death of Vernon Turner - will Luscious Lyon finally do something to make Andre and Rhonda Lyon pay for their actions?
It certainly looks to be so. When executive producer Ilene Chaiken was asked about the fate of Rhonda and Andre during an interview made with him by TVLine, he said:
"Once our story took us there, though, we certainly felt like this was a great and interesting opportunity. And whatever happens, whether Rhonda and Andre get discovered or not, there are going to be some thematic repercussions of that action. We love that Andre-Rhonda dynamic, and whether they're coming back together in the way they were before, or whether they have to renegotiate their relationship, is really interesting to us. We also have to look at whether or not Andre's [religious] conversion, if that's indeed what it is, plays into it. But we definitely love the both of them, and we love them together. "
'Empire' was renewed for a second season on January 17, 2015.
