Apple is set to make big changes for its upcoming iPhone handset, the iPhone 6s. Or is it iPhone 7? A reliabe Apple insider has revealed that Apple will skip iPhone 6s and introduce iPhone 7 as this year's flagship smartphone.
In a report by MacRumor, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said before a group of investors that the reason Apple will forgo the iPhone 6s in favor of the iPhone 7 is the big changes coming to the iPhone 7. Where iPhone 6s suggests refinements from the previous flagship duos, the iPhone 7's Touch Force feature is big enough to be considered a refinement.
According to Kuo, the Touch Force technology that will be used for iPhone 7 will be different from that in MacBook and Apple Watch. News about the Touch Force coming to Apple's future smartphones was first revealed by Wall Street Journal.
Featuring the Touch Force sensor in iPhone 7 is not really a surprising move from Apple as it has shown ease in integrating this technology to any of its devices. Moreover, it is complementary to the current iOS updates which now support hard press. That's not to mention that it will be a "clear contender for the technology" as Andorid manufacturers cannot replicate it.
Touch Force sensor is not the only big change that is coming to iPhone 7 because there are a lot more to expect from this Apple handset.
One of this is the availability of a 256GB storage option which would be twice the storage option available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It could be possible for iPad to have a 256GB storage option first, followed by iPhone lineup.
A waterproof iPhone 7 may also arrive and make iPhone users' wish come true for a more risilient and tougher handset. The Apple SIM could also be integrated into the iPhone 7. Other big changes that iPhone 7 could feature include the two-lens camera system, better Touch ID, 2GB RAM, and USB Type-C charger.
What iPhone 7 will not be supporting is a bigger battery, sapphire glass front, and IPS panels because Apple could used an OLED display instead.
So, will Apple introduce the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 this 2015? Kuo did not mention the release date but he did provide another interesting prediction - that is, Apple will focus on 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch successors to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Plus.
