Daredevil Season 1 Spoilers: Charlie Cox talks Marvel hero role; Agents of Shield villain to guest star on premiere?

By

Daredevil season 1 will be premiering on Netflix in two short days and though the show's eponymous character does not have any supernatural powers to fight crime with, he is still clearly capable of taking down bad guys. In this brand new show, will there be connections to the bigger Marvel Cinematic Universe? What can fans expect from this exciting new series?

The season 1 of Daredevil will follow Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), who was blinded when he was a child, during his humble beginnings before "Daredevil" becomes a full persona of his. During an interview, Cox was asked if there was any distinction between Matt and Daredevil, if Matt became Daredevil or if Daredevil played Matt.

Cox replied that the viewers are going to see Matt slowly becoming Daredevil throughout the season. The actor was hopeful that by the end of the season, Matt will come to realize that Daredevil and Matt are one and the same, that Daredevil has always been who his is since the accident that blinded him as a child.

This all-new superhero series will have subtle connections with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In trailers, Wesley Welch (Toby Leonard) is chastising the thugs who are under him about the man they could not take down even though he was not in an iron metal suit or had Thor's hammer. Though he did not have to mention the characters' names, it is enough to know that although Daredevil is not having his moment in the big screen spotlight, Marvel is not forgetting his place in their world.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that a villain from Marvel's Agents of Shield, Carl Creel, a.k.a. Absorbing Man, is the same Carl Creel that fought Matt Murdock's father when he was still a boxer. Whether or not Creel will make an appearance in the show, whether in a flashback or if he freed himself from his prison, is still a matter of speculation.

Soon, Daredevil's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be clearer once the other Marvel shows by Netflix, A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist premiere, all leading up to The Defenders mini-series.

Catch Daredevil season 1 premiere on Netflix, on April 10.
