The Castle season finale is coming in a few short weeks and fans are getting edgy since season eight has not been announced. The show's viewers are sent further into a worry knowing that the cast has not yet renewed their contracts and one of the main cast is posting pictures on Instagram that hold content that throws the future of Castle into question.
Castle has been around for seven seasons and while its ratings have been fine and consistent all throughout, and that ABC president Paul Lee expressed his desire to have Castle on the air for years to come, season eight has not been confirmed. Stana Katic (Kate Beckett) has also been posting behind-the-scenes photos on her Instagram account with captions that connote a sort of "goodbye". The actress has yet to renew her contract as well and has been reported that she is not expecting an eight season. Seamus Dever (Kevin Ryan) has also posted similar to what Katic has posted on his account.
However, in an interview, Dever seems optimistic about the show's future because of the fair amount of ratings the show brings. He also said he has not heard anything about which direction the show is going to head and that it is all going to depend on getting everyone to renew their contracts.
The show's end could prove devastating to fans because David Amann, one of the show's executive producers, said that the finale will involve a cliffhanger and the focus will be back on Detective Beckett. If the entire show's finale will be a cliffhanger, fans of the show could be left with unfinished business. Fans will just have to trust the writers and the actors that they know what they are doing with Castle.
Castle season 7 returns next week on April 20 with an episode entitled "Sleeper".
