The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Dev Reveals Game’s Drastic Improvements; More Magic, More Mayhem and Brand New Toxicity Indicators

By

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to exceed expectation as further information revealed by game developer CD Projekt Red, show drastic improvements from last titles. The sequel will have more emphasis on 'Signs" or magic use in the game, a huge, extensive game play and a new toxicity indicator that turns Geralt's face red, black and blue.

Signs, which is what The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt calls its magical ability will have a significant change in the sequel. More emphasis is now given to using magic compared to previous titles. According to IGN Editor Mike Dyer,

"For the first time playing a Witcher game, I am always thinking about my magic."

Unlike in The Witcher 2 where one can finish the game without even using signs that much, magic is now tied into the game that not using it will give gamers a really hard time. Bonuses are said to accompany Signs upgrades making it an essential part in the Witcher 3 game play.

Aside from this, CD Projekt Red has given their new sequel a humungous amount of game content that according to Polygon, took experienced game testers 25 hours to complete. Though if all side-quests are included with the addition of two massive expansions, the game can easily reach the 200 hour mark or more.

Fabio Mario Doehla, CD Projekt Red Studio communications manager said to Polygon that their game testers have skipped all cutscenes, played the game knowing every "trick, secrets and critical paths" and still needed 25 hours.

Finally, CD Projekt Red revealed that included with the "beard growing" time indicator that fascinated fans, the game will also include a toxicity indicator as well. In the Witcher series, certain elixirs used are highly toxic in nature and takes a toll in the protagonist's being. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, gamers will visibly see if Geralt has been drinking too much elixirs.

CD Projekt's lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz said to Gameinformer that: "Geralt's face actually changes the higher his toxicity is," He further continued, "As you know, Witcher elixirs are highly toxic, and could kill a human if he/she drank one. Witchers are more resistant to this toxin, but it does influence them. In game you have this 'toxicity bar,' which shows you how intoxicated Geralt is."

The Toxicity bar Tomaszkiewicz is referring to is Geralt's face, which will become, "...unnaturally pale, his veins become visible and seem to be black, dark circles appear under his eyes, etc." These and many more hidden features are in store for gamers come May 19, 2015, when the game is finally released to the public.
