The second full trailer of "Terminator: Genisys" was released, revealing the film's crucial plot twists as John Connor becomes part human-part machine and meets his much younger mother, Sara Connor. This could indicate that the fifth "Terminator" movie may somehow reset the events in the past installments. Although filled with major spoilers, the second trailer still did not reveal Matt Smith's character in the reboot. Is he going to be the advanced robot T-5000?
"Terminator: Genisys" is set in 2029 where John Connor (played by Jason Clarke) still leads the Resistance in trying to stop the plans of Skynet. When he learned that the self-aware intelligence program will attack him in both past and the future, he sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to the past to protect his mother Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), who was expecting his return for over a decade.
However, the second trailer released by Paramount and Skydance unveiled that John Connor will probably be the toughest villain to defeat in the film. In a scene, he revealed that he is not a machine, not a man, but "more."
A report suggests that when John Connor said he's "more" than showed his robotic exoskeleton and regeneration abilities, he literally means he's more than just a robot then. This would mean that "Terminator: Genisys" will slightly lean away from the usual robot vs. human storyline of past its past sequels. Since it is somehow unbelievable that John Connor will be easily compromised by Skynet, perhaps the program just copied his features in order to deter Sarah, Kyle, and The Guardian from completely terminating him.
Fans are also clamoring about the absence of former Doctor Who star Matt Smith in the second trailer. Until now, the production is still mum about his role. A report however, claims that Smith could be the T-5000 advanced Terminator that can brainwash humans and will have a longer appearance in the future sequels. Whoever his role turns out to be will excite his cult following.
Paramount and Skydance released the second trailer of "Terminator: Genysis" and shocked a lot of fans following the reveal that John Connor is one of the film's villains. It also raised questions regarding the role of Doctor Who star Matt Smith as it is still not yet unveiled. The fifth film in the "Terminator" series will hit theaters on July 1.
