Galaxy Note 5 and Note 5 Edge Extreme Display Details

In terms of display, both Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note Edge will have Super AMOLED display. Additionally, Samsung has just revealed its most advanced screen technology. The company released key details about their new flexible AMOLED display. Samsung Display's latest version gives extremely bright, colorful images, capable of delivering a whopping 3.6 million pixels, not to mention that it only makes low power consumption and an unusual fast response time. It is expected that the Flexible AMOLED technology will evolve from curved, to bended, foldable, and even "rollable" forms. As of now, the Edge displays are in its second phase - bended display.

The following are details of the Flexible AMOLED display:

1. Substrate Material: It uses advanced plastic-type polyimide (PI) as a substrate material rather than hard glass. The PI has an exceptional flexibility, resilience, and shock resistance. Samsung claimed that they were able to produce an extremely thin film of the PI that is thinner and bendable than a human hair.

2. Degree of Curvature: It has a 6.5R curvature for each side, making it easy to grab with just one hand as well as swiping screens with the right thumb.

3. Picture Clarity: It gives Quad HD picture clarity at 1440 x 2560 pixels, with a 577 ppi. It can store more than 3.6 million RGB organic subpixels on its PI substrate. This allows the user to see the finest image detail and the smoothest fonts. Its total number of pixels is 75% higher than in the full HD AMOLED screen.

4. Power Use: Since it can drive each of its pixels individually, the Flexible AMOLED Display reduces power consumption by about 20%.

5. Color Richness: Its color gamut can support 100% of the Adobe RGB color scale, which covers a 30% wider range of colors than sRGB. The Adobe RGB is the most regularly used color standard today.

6. Speeds and Image Clarity: It has a response speed of 0.01ms, which means it can deliver images up to hundreds of times faster than a mobile device sporting an LCD.

7. Finger Aid: Users can move the icons and menus use that they mostly use easily with just one hand, reducing finger fatigue by as much as 20x. It reduces the change of having "Dequervain Syndrome."

MarketWatch cited spokesman for Samsung Display Ho Jung Kim as saying, "We are witnessing enormous interest in our leading-edge Flexible OLED display, even more than had been anticipated. We are working extra hours to increase our production levels in order to meet the extremely high demand."

International Business Times AU cited Tech Times that both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 5 Edge will be available in variants from 16 GB to 128 GB, expandable to 128 GB microSD.
