The iconic, machete-wielding madman who scared a bunch of teenagers silly on the silver screen is now set to bring bloodshed to a whole new world when he arrives for "Mortal Kombat X."
News of the famed movie maniac joining the "Mortal Kombat X" roster was announced Thursday by NetherRealm Studios during a video broadcast the company has termed a Kombat Kast.
Fans who have been following news about the game have probably known for a while that Jason Voorhees is coming to the game, but the official announcement now gives fans the date of May 5 to mark on their calendars in anticipation of his arrival, according to Gamespot.
Jason is also just one of the four DLC characters who are included in the game's $30 Kombat Pack. The other three characters included in the Kombat Pack are Tremor, Tanya, and another movie monster, Predator.
For players who may not have purchased the Kombat Pack yet and are still unsure whether it is worth their money, they can try out each of the four characters prior to them being made official parts of the game's roster. Players will still have to pay if they want them to be permanently in the game.
More news is expected to come about Jason and his impending arrival when NetherRealm Studios holds another Kombat Kast on May 4, according to Eurogamer.
In related news, patch 1.03 has also been released for "Mortal Kombat X," according to PC Mag. The newest update is the third one to come out since the game itself was first released. This latest one will address issues concerning Krypt switches.
The patch is also going to fix problems players have when it comes to signing into the Sony Entertainment Network. It will also work on improving the in-game leaderboards as well as the "buy easy fatalities" option.
"Mortal Kombat X" is currently available on the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. It will be available on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
