Game of Thrones Season 5 Updates and Spoilers: Jon Snow Becomes Lord; Threats to Power Emerge

By

The Wall is not what many expect it to be in the Game of Thrones as Jon Snow grabs the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch seat. Many express joy over this development though a lot are suspicious for Jon Snow cannot do a fine job being the new Lord.

Presently, Jon Snow's recommendation is unsurprising since Alliser Thorne is the greater evil between the two. Snow is very young and has very little experience from being the Night's Watch head. While he also receives the necessary training from Old Bear and bears familiarity from patrolling the north of the Wall. This is not enough for him to become the Lord. A good solace is that Jon Snow is never seen to betray the Night's Watch though it is important to highlight that he nearly abandons his position, twice.

At the moment, Melissandre's advancement to Jon Snow at Stannis' behest proves worthwhile. While conversing with each other, Melissandre takes off gloves and places her hand on Jon's cheeks to prove that she is not cold; she also enquires if Jon is virgin to which the bachelor says, no. The scene proves the kind of temptation the current Lord is in that may very well spell his demise. The more he goes up the ladder and the faster his rise to power is, the swifter he gathers enemies and threats to his position.

On the other hand, Jon shows Mance his idea of justice opposite to Stannis'. Being the King of the Windlings, Mance is determined to bring his men to the south of the wall for protection from the winter. As a former Windlings himself he knows Mance intentions but is unsuccessful in convincing the man to stay at his side. Mance is resolved to rather die that give up being free. As Stannis sentenced him to death, Jon shoots his heart with an arrow from afar instead that shows his compassion towards his cause. Certainly a trait worth looking for as a Lord Commander but this invites a vile conflict between him and Stannis.

Game of Thrones airs 9PM Saturdays on HBO.
