The future of "Castle" is still unknown despite many fans' petition to renew the series for season 8. This petition came along with some fans pleading "Castle" actress Stana Katic to renew her contract, after the actress seemingly expressed that she will no longer reprise her role should the show be renewed for another season. While some fans remain hopeful that season 7 will not be the end of the series, others cannot help but wonder how the show would fare if Stana Katic does not renew her contract.
It is pretty understandable for most fans to wonder about the show's future without Stana Katic, as the actress plays a lead role in the show, Detective Kate Beckett. Some fans would even say that Rick Castle is not complete without Beckett, the same way that fans of "The Vampire Diaries" reacted when Nina Dobrev announced that she will be leaving the show. Michael Ausiello of TV Line delivered a good news for Stana Katic/Beckett fans, as he said that there is "encouraging news on the state of Stana Katic's Castle negotiations."
Meanwhile, "Castle" season 7 finale episode titled, "Hollander's Woods" tease fans that Kate Beckett will find herself at a crossroads. According to Carter Matt, Beckett can be seen in a state of shock. This could be in relation to the show's executive producer, David Amann's statement to TV Guide that Beckett will be having "some very interesting choices as far as her career is concerned. It's more complicated than just issues within the NYPD."
