The video game adaption of "The Walking Dead" comic book series would soon be making its way to the PS4, Xbox One and the PC this coming 2016. Game developer Overkill said that it would be working with 505 Games in launching the game.

"The Walking Dead" would be launched for the PS4, Xbox One and PC with digital and retail versions, based on a report from VG247 by 2016. "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman also said that the game would be more like Payday but it would be set in a bigger world. Speaking of Payday, Overkill and 505 Games had worked in launching Payday 2 before; apart from that, the game developers had also said that it would "exploring new characters and storylines" for the game.

As what was mentioned earlier, the upcoming "The Walking Dead" game would be an adaptation of the comic book series and it seemed that Robert Kirkman had been more closely involved on the project. He even described the project as "a bigger world than Payday currently encompasses. They are going to be learning a lot of stuff from Payday that they will be incorporating into The Walking Dead game," based on a report from Metro UK.

"The Walking Dead" already had two game adaptations in the past. The first was Telltale Games' graphic adventure game, while the second would be Activision's first-person shooter game. However, nothing much had been revealed about the upcoming "The Walking Dead" game. One of the very few details about the game came from Starbreeze, Overkill's parent company. Starbreeze said that Overkill's "The Walking Dead" would "deliver a completely new co-op experience to The Walking Dead-universe, exploring new characters."

Overkill's "The Walking Dead" was first announced last August with a static video trailer that followed next, based on a report from GameRant. Apart from that, Starbreeze would be paying US$10 million to Skybound Entertainment, who owned the licenses to publish Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead" comic book series.

Although the upcoming "The Walking Dead" video game would have a production window of until 2016, the game developers were targeting a launch later this 2015.
