"Castle" Season 7 returns with an all new episode this week following a temporary hiatus to give way to a special two-hour episode following the shocking death of Dr. Derek Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy." While the show remains uncertain about its future, Stana Katic, whose contract is still up for renewal should the series return for season 8, recently thanked her fans for their well wishes following her wedding.
"Thanks 4 all the well wishes! Filming a movie off-grid. Working w/fantastic people in a secret location. Looking 4ward 2 sharing when I can," Katic said on her official Twitter account.
Katic, who plays Det. Kate Beckett on the series, has seemingly hinted in a series of interviews that she will be leaving the show. The actress previously posted 24 behind-the-scenes photos from the set of "Castle" before she went "radio silent" as a fulfillment of her promise to her fans to celebrate the last two episodes of the series. Katic also said in an earlier interview that the show should not "overstay its welcome" and that "it's better to stop when you're on top."
This has led many fans to wonder if "Castle" could survive without one of its lead actresses in it should the show continue through season 8 without Katic. Some fans, however, remain hopeful that Katic would renew her contract following TV Line's Michael Ausiello's report that there is "encouraging news on the state of Stana Katic's 'Castle' negotiations."
According to IB Times, the official renewal order for season 7 came on May 8, 2014 while renewal for season 6 was announced on May 10, 2013. Given these facts, the outlet noted that fans are anticipating that news about season 8 will be announced within the same timeframe.
While Stana Katic's contract renewal and "Castle" season 8 remain uncertain, fans are delighted to hear that Nathan Fillion, who plays Rick Castle has recently renewed his contract. Fillion also seemingly hinted that the show will be back for season 8 as the actor tweeted that they are filming "the last scene of the last show of the season."
