Joe and Anthony Russo will be first directors in Hollywood to have a full feature film exclusively done using a brand new digital camera created by IMAX and ARRI. The camera branded as 'Alexa 65' will be utilized in making Marvel Studios' The Avengers: Infinity Parts 1 and 2.
In addition, the Russo Brothers will be reunited with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely via a Marvel Studios recent press statement. Markus and McFreely will continue their knack in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as they will pen the third installment of the two-part Avengers film.
"Chris and Steve have been an integral part of the Marvel family since the early days of Phase 1, and their work speaks for itself," said Producer Kevin Feige. "We couldn't be more excited to have them with us to help guide the Avengers through their biggest story yet."
This is not the first time that this camera technology has been employed. Notably, Christopher Nolan in his sci-fi opus Interstellar had an hour long footage using a combination of 35mm anamorphic film and 65mm 15 perf IMAX FILM. The Russo Brothers themselves want to bring together their creative vision and technology in next year's Captain America: Civil War. using the said technology.
The siblings made a communal assertion to the public with this recent development in the Marvel Studios camp:
"The intent with the Infinity War films is to bring ten years of accumulative storytelling to an incredible climax," said the Russos in a joint statement. "We felt that the best way to exploit the scale and scope required to close out the final chapter of these three phases, was to be the first films shot entirely on the IMAX/Arri Digital camera."
Avengers: Infinity War Part I is slated for May 2018 while Avengers: Infinity War Part II is slated for May 2019.
