The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt already features a vast world filled with all kinds of monsters and evildoers, but even this massive map has room for easter eggs. Easter eggs are some of the most delightful parts of any game, so it comes as no surprise that the Witcher 3 is also featuring a good number of them.
Some of the easter eggs players may stumble upon as they make their way through the game are going to reference the older entries in the franchise, according to Dual Shockers. According to level designer Miles Tost, one easter egg, which can be found in White Orchard, features a scene which calls back to a specific moment in the second Witcher game. Tost goes on to say that there are plenty more of these nostalgic nods to be found in The Witcher 3, but he stopped short of revealing any more concrete details.
Another of the known easter eggs found in the game is one that references the highly popular open world RPG, Skyrim.
According to Tech Times, the easter egg in question can be found in The Witcher 3's card game, and it shows one card with a picture of an archer captioned by the words, "I aim for the knee. Always." The words are a nod to the expression, "arrow to the knee," popularized in modern pop culture by Skyrim after the game itself became a sensation.
The expression became so popular that even took on a life of its own, becoming a meme and making the rounds all over the Internet, according to Gearnuke. Considering some of the similarities between Skyrim and The Witcher 3, the easter egg itself looks like an acknowledging nod to a great game that came before it.
As for other notable gameplay details, The Witcher 3 community manager has said that while the trailers may unintentionally suggest something to the contrary, Geralt will not be killing any random bystanders in the game. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt will finally be available starting May 19.
