The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt was billed as one of the most visually stunning games to ever be released, and despite recent rumors, it looks as though the game will deliver on its promise, even if it will need some help. Some of the most recent rumblings regarding the game were indicating that it had been visually downgraded.
The rumors came about courtesy of players who were able to get their hands on leaked copies of the game. After playing the game, they would upload videos of their progress, and show it alongside the earlier footage released for The Witcher 3's marketing.
Based on what they saw, the players concluded that the game had been visually downgraded for consoles, according to Gaming Bolt. In an attempt to quell the downgrade rumors once and for all, a Reddit user going by the name of "killthealias," decided to put screenshots of the Playstation 4 version of the game together with PC screenshots unveiled prior to the game's release.
The difference between the two sets appears minimal at most, and while the PC screenshots do look a little better, people need to understand that this version simply has a more powerful platform at its disposal. It also appears as if the addition of color correction to the Playstation 4 screenshots have made the two sets look even closer to one another.
There's no question that the game as it is now is not quite as visually pleasing as the one first revealed back in 2013, but console limitations were not taken into account at that point, according to WCCF Tech. A case could even be made that CD Projekt Red, the game's developer, has done an even better job of transporting the game to consoles than expected.
According to Forbes, the early suspicions that the Xbox One version of The Witcher 3 would only be capable of running at 900p are false.
Thanks to the game's dynamic scaling, The Witcher 3 will run at 1080p on the Xbox One, just as it will for the Playstation 4.
