The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Release Linked To Poor Visuals, Fans Point Out Downgrade in Forum with More Questions Lingering About The Series

By

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is said to be the victim of a cruel, visual downgrade if the players posting their in-game screenshots online are to be believed. This particular rumor began to gain steam after it was posted on one of the official CD Projekt Red forums.

It goes on to say that the reason behind the downgrade is to better optimize the game for when it is officially released, according to Gaming Bolt. Since then, more fuel has just been added to the downgrade fire, with another fan even taking the time to compile a collection of images differentiating how the game looked when it was initial unveiled, and how it appears now that it is on the brink of being launched.

When compared side by side, it does become somewhat obvious that the screenshots from the initial unveiling are superior to the ones released later on, according to Tech Times. Whether or not a downgrade took place is probable at best, but The Witcher 3 would hardly be the first title to suffer from such a controversy, as Watch Dogs also endured the same kind of criticism for basically the same issue.

For their part, CD Projekt Red, and specifically community manager Marcin Momot, has offered their own thoughts on the issue. Momot basically avoided addressing the rumor, stating the company does not comment on such matters. He instead asked the fans to focus more on the fact that the game is coming out very soon, and that the event is a reason to be excited, according to Gearnuke.

Momot also mentioned how the downgrade rumors could be a tool being used by other entities to benefit from what is such a highly anticipated release. The truth is that unless CD Projekt Red has any more definitive statements lined up in its future, this whole downgrade issue will most likely never be resolved.

The evidence being trotted out by fans will speak for itself, but even they cannot clling to any factual downgrade. Fans will simply have to see for themselves when The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is released on May 19.
