Satoru Iwata’s brief discussion about Nintendo NX gives 7 clues about the gaming platform

The much-awaited Nintendo video game "Splatoon" is slated to release on May 29 in the U.S. and Europe, yet it has started to create some "prevailing controversies," particularly about its refusal to include a voice chat in multiplayer. Meanwhile, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata gave a brief discussion about the Nintendo NX during their investors meeting, which might give fans few hints about what exactly the company means about making NX as a "new dedicated video gaming platform with a brand new concept."

"Splatoon" generates mixed reactions

Nintendo's "Splatoon" is one of the company's major bet at a shooter franchise, and it was confirmed for a release at the end of the month. Nintendo fans all over the world could expect this to hit their respective regions very soon. However, "a prevailing controversy" is surrounding this new Nintendo game due to the company's refusal to include a voice chat in a multiplayer setting.

"Splatoon" co-director Yusuke Amano recently told Edge magazine that the title won't be having chat with other players during multiplayer matches despite being used for making strategies. Amano reasoned that voice options harbor negativity, which is not the type of environment that he wanted to create in a child-friendly game.

This created mixed reactions from various media publication. One report said that "Nintendo's lack of online experience and fear of unknown profanity is taking priority over the gameplay. I also believe it's cheap and lazy."

However, another report responded that "Splatoon" can work even without a voice chat. Forbes said, "I guess the point here is that I don't think this is as big of a deal as many are making it out to be. 'Splatoon' is a unique game." Further, players can look for "new ways to coordinate and work together. It's a new challenge. Rise to the occasion."

7 Nintendo NX clues

Meanwhile, Nintendo Satoru Iwata recently mentioned their much-awaited Nintendo "NX" during their investors meeting, but in a very brief manner. Iwata said that:

1. Details about the NX would only be discussed until 2016.

2. The name "NX" was only used in the press conference with DeNA on March 17 to clear misunderstanding. Hence, it's a sort of a codename, and could possible come out with a different name.

3. NX is a reaffirmation of Nintendo's passion about the future of dedicated video game systems. Looks like the NX might be part in a dedicated video game sytem.

4. The NX is a new dedicated video gaming platform with a brand new concept.

5. The NX is not a replacement for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U. It seems to imply that the NX could be a unique device that might complement, if not replace, with Nintendo 3DS or Wii U.

6. NX is a new platform aimed at being accepted by as many people around the world as possible. Given that each person has their own preferences, the NX has to offer flexible features in order to gain wide acceptance by as "many people around the world as possible."

7. NX would be sensitive in a country's playing environments. The NX could offer features that would complement to the culture in a certain country, especially when Nintendo wants the NX to be accepted by as many people as possible.

Since Satoru Iwata did not make any concrete details about the NX during their investors meeting, everthing should be taken with a grain of salt.

Nintendo has yet to make official statements about the Nintendo NX, as mentioned, on 2016.
