Guillermo Del Toro recently aired his sentiments following the cancellation of the "Silent Hills" game. The Hollywood director seemingly shared the fans' sentiments and expressed that he is willing to sign the ongoing petition to save the game. Will Konami reconsider the cancellation following pleas from thousands of fans?
Konami recently announced that the collaboration between Guillermo Del Toro and "Metal Gear Solid" creator Hideo Kojima for the "Silent Hills" game will no longer be happening. This news has led to an ongoing petition on Change.org, aiming to pledge Del Toro and Kojima into working on the highly anticipated game.
"I know there's a petition going on the internet and it's gathering signatures. I would add my signature to it, and hope that someone pays attention," Del Toro told IGN.
The petition, which aims to show support for the "Silent Hills" game, has already gathered over 148,000 supporters as of writing. The petition even cited that while the cause of the game's cancellation is unknown, the network could start a "Crowdfunding campaign" through sites like Kickstarter if the company is really going through financial issues.
Comic Book cited several reasons for the cancellation of the game, including Kojima's plans to leave the company following the dissolution of his production team at Konami. The outlet also noted that Konami has been recently taken off the list at the New York Stock Exchange, which could be taken as a possible buyout in the future.
Meanwhile, Del Toro said that should the company decide on doing the project once again, he would be willing to get back on his feet and start working on the game. The "Pacific Rim" director also hinted that if the "Silent Hills" game would be started again, fans can expect for "some stuff that was very new" with "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus to play the lead role in the survival horror game.
