The Starz series "Outlander" became an unexpected hit among viewers especially with its bold scenes that only add flavor to the already good story based on Diana Gabaldon's eight-book series. While the time traveler series has just wrapped up season one last Saturday, May 30, fans are already looking forward to its second season, which is slated to be released in 2016.
Starz still has not released an official air date for "Outlander" season 2, but there are ongoing speculations that the series will premiere on April 16, the 270th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden, Zap2It noted.
The Battle of Culloden plays a high role in "Outlander" season 2, as Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) travel all the way to Paris in an attempt to the stop the battle from taking place.
Showrunner Ron Moore, however, revealed that he has no idea when "Outlander" will return on TV. The showrunner also hinted that there will be more twists in the story, as he continues to play around Diana Gabaldon's second book, "Dragonfly in Amber."
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will be reprising their roles in "Outlander" season 2 along with Tobias Menzies' character as Frank. Stanley Weber and Robert Cavanah were recently introduced as new cast members of the Starz time traveler series.
Cavanah will play the role of Jamie's cousin, Jared. Weber, on the other hand, will be playing the role of a villain in the second season of "Outlander" as Le Comte St. Germain.
